Basic Chemicals
To remove any irregularities within the logistical chain, basic chemicals must be stored in large quantities. However, these materials can be corrosive, hygroscopic, cohesive, and so on, and thus are potentially hazardous. Considering these environmental concerns – not to mention governmental regulations – these bulk materials must be stored in a properly responsible manner.
The main applications for the Eurosilo in the basic chemicals and minerals industry include storage at the plant/mine site between production and train, truck or ship loading, storage at the plant site to store the basic product and storage at the port of user-owned terminal.
Besides the core-flow system with or without centre column and the slotted column system for cohesive products, a newly developed shutter column system is available. The system is well suited for storing materials with a very small particle size like fl y ash or electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) as produced in recycling plants. These products tend to fluidize during the fi lling process of the silo and by programming the opening and closing of the shutters, the products can be handled in a controlled manner.
Zinc Ox Korea Recycling Plant has the obligation to accept EAFD dust all year round. To overcome the maintenance period of the circular arc furnace of the Zinc Ox plant in south Korea, Zinc Ox has chosen the reliable Eurosilo system for a 12,000 m3 EAFD Eurosilo storage silo. The overall layout of the site is shown in the picture below. As you can see the application of the Eurosilo enables a very compact design of the complete plant.
